What’s in Your Control, Really? (VIDEO)

What's in your control Red Cape Revolution

If your life at work feels unmanageable, then it’s time to take an honest look at what’s in your control to fix it. You may be surprised to find there are more things in your power than you’ve ever realized.

In this video short, I share the three things that are always in your control, no matter who you are and what’s going on in your workplace or world.

I dive into these concepts deeper and teach you specific strategies where you can take back control in your life at work in my book “Red Cape Rescue: Save Your Career Without Leaving Your Job.” It’s available through all online booksellers, including Amazon and Audible. I also coach and speak on these topics inside companies all over the world.

What’s In Your Control? (transcript)

You only control three things in your life at work and actually, in your life: everything you think, everything you say, and everything you do.

And that’s it. But honestly, it’s enough.

And I find that so many of the smart professionals that I’m working with want to control so much. They want to control all the outcomes, they want to control the people around them, the situations, the projects, the processes.

And that’s fantastic, AND—you’re never going to win, because you can’t control all that. All you can control is what you do.

When you realize that, first of all, it lets go of a whole host of stress and pressure on you that you’ve been putting on yourself.

When you recognize that some of these things are in your control, to influence or in your control, to be able to do something differently, or maybe in some cases, to not do something that you’ve been doing. It’s in your control to be able to say something differently, to speak up or speak out about something.

It’s in your control to think differently, and often just choosing a different thought or asking, “what else could this mean,” can change the energy of a situation and change your reaction to it in an instant.
